“Who Will Be Next?”
2019 AKC National Championship.
A record number of dogs are set to compete at the 2019 AKC National Championship Presented by Royal Canin on Dec. 14 and 15. While 5,284 dogs will compete for the title of National Champion, a total of 11,008 dogs are entered across the entire weekend’s events. Surpassing the AKC 1984 Centennial event, the AKC National Championship becomes the largest show in the history of the American Kennel Club. The event also remains the largest dog show in North America.
More than 1,000,000 square feet of event space at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, will be filled for the continent’s biggest dog show. And if you can’t be there in person, you can tune in to AKC.TV to watch live events throughout the day, including Conformation competition, the Agility Invitational, Obedience Classic, Juniors Classic, NADD/AKC Dock Diving National Championship, and much more.
Only one of the 5,284 dogs competing for the title of National Champion will walk away from the weekend a winner. So just how many dogs of each group and breed are competing? Which dogs have won in the past? We break down the numbers and take a look at the canines set to star in this record-setting event.
